It all started at Murrayside Youth club in Nacton, Ipswich Town back in de 80's.
We all used to go to the youth club to socialise and take part in boxing training .
In the early 80's we were all into Break Dancing & Hip Hop. We were known as the 'Nacton Boys'. It wasn't long before we all got more and more into Sound Systems and Dancehall, chatting lyrics at the Youth Club which developed into MC Clashes competing with other MC's from rival youth clubs including Whitton and Chantry.
Dancehall, Reggae and Sound Sytems have their roots in Jamaica, first appearing in the UK in the 60's. With the growth of the UK Caribbean community, Candy (Later known as Outlaw Candy) and Skanking came up with the idea to build their own Sound System having supported the Mandika Sound System.
Having got The Mckenzie brothers, Candy and the rest of the crew on board, Missile was born and set out to build their own speakers, amps and equipment to use at their own events.
Governor, one of the Mckenzie brothers came up with the name 'Missile'
To the right is a selection of pictures from the original sound crew. They included Governor, Skanking, Little Junior (aka Skippa J), Polo, Candy, Supa, Cobba Youth, Long Legs, Benji, Sam, Sister Kat, Papa P, Huggy Ranks, Sister Melody, Papa Mini, Major Billy, Mylo Ranking, Daddy P, Silky, Staggle Head and Echo (Later Notorious Echo)
Iron was the first Missile selector.

Missile started by promoting under 18's events all over Ipswich. Soon the sound system and Missile found a regular home at the Ipswich Caribbean Club which was the home of Dancehall in Ipswich.
It wasn't long before Missile became one of the top Dancehall Sound Systems in East Anglia.
Missile as a Sound System took it's members off the street in the 80's and focused them on positive musical vibes.
Mrs. Smith, Jasmine and Albert Grant helped Missile gain access to the ICA for events for which they are all grateful to this day.
The equipment was custom made with amps from "Barry Quada".
The now famous bass bin boxes were made in the Mckenzie family back yard and thanks go out to this day for the support of Mum and Dad Missile !

The late 80's into the 90's saw the explosion of the rave scene for which Missile had the sound equipment.
Polo and Silky from Missile led the way for Missile, promoting big rave events playing Acid, Drum & Bass, Jungle and UK garage.
Missile still promotes successful rave events today including Godfather and Fully Loaded.
Reddas joined Missile in 1988 when Blues House parties were the in thing.
Most Saturday nights there would be a Blues and Reddas would play Lovers Rock and Revival all night alongside Skippa J playing up-front Reggae and Soul with a selection of Missile MC's.
Those were the days ...
Moses was the Missile security, organiser and minibus driver. He kept evrything above board and sound.
Skippa J linked up with Daddy Turbo in 1990 when they both started a radio station called Vibes FM which changed to Flex FM as a result of Vibe FM trying to cash in on it's name following the massive local success of the station which was broadcasting fo 9 years from 1990 till 1999 !
Turbo still compéres regularly at Missile events.

Tyson & Lexus brought a different vibe to Missile in the mid 90’s having grown up in London.
They were introduced as new selectors by Skippa in order to to develop the business and it resulted in part to Missile winning the East Anglian Cup in 95
On the back of this, Missile went international, playing New York, New Jersey, Miami, Canada, Jamaica and Antigua where they represented the UK.
Missile had become a top sound not only in the UK but internationally and set the tone for the new Millenium.
Dub Plates were Missile's secret weapon, ready to take on any sound!
"Never lost a sound clash when Johnny B’s about. Johnny was the original vibes man in the crew that kept de crew hype"

Missile voiced their first dub plates at Hammer Studio in Ipswich then started cutting plates at the Music House in London. Following this, Skippa and Candy travelled to Jamaica to cut dub plates at studios including Arrows, King Jammys and Exodus.
In 1992 Missile set up their own record label which was re-branded Must Bust and run by Candy with vocalists including Junior Reid, Cobra, Merciless, Ghost, General B and Outlaw Candy to name a few.

A new century, the Millenium and beyond ...
Missile has become a professional business, known for hiring out sound equipment, booking DJ's for private functions and organising events.
Most of the original Missile crew have continued doing their own thing but always come back together to remember the early days.
Today the Mckenzie brothers continue to develop the business, introducing new talent and promoting major and local events.
